My Favorite VU Album

Easily, my favourite VU album.

Debauchery, fucked-up stories, excessive drug abuse, freakish operations, all wrapped up in insane noise and distortion. Even for today's standard, this is still one of the most WTF albums. But, fuck, I just love this album. It's loud, it's sick, it's  aggressive, it's hypnotic, it's everything you want in a rock album that fucks, and fucks its way through and through to the end.

Less Is More Pianotape

Dear Friends

Lately, I have been feeling weary. Life has stopped moving. I feel like the unbearable weight of life is wearing me down. But, I tell myself, "it's just a phase we all have to go through sometime." And I hope it is. Just be okay, and be nice. It is okay to feel down, but it is nice to fill your heart with joy. Now, totally unrelated to what I just said, I have put together a mixtape full of beautiful melody played by piano. Most of the songs are just instrumental. They may not be the best piano songs, but I think they all possess a pure and translucent quality. I hope you would enjoy them too. Remember, less is more.

yours sincerely

Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner

Director: Zacharias Kunuk
Writer: Paul Apak Angilirq
Cast:Natar Ungalaaq, Sylvia Ivalu and Peter-Henry Arnatsiaq
Year: 2001 (Canada)
IMDB

My Rating: 9/10

This is kind of a nice surprise. When I picked up this DVD from the shelve, I wasn't really expecting much, except some shots of the beautiful landscape of Arctic North. However, this movie turned out to be a really great movie. This movie is really different in terms of the portrait of another culture - Inuit community. But it's just like any other great movie, it tells a good story, and the story has the heart and the soul. People may look different, eat different food, speak different language, but we human all long for the same things... a little affection, a little care, a little understanding.

All actors are real Inuit, and the whole movie is spoken in Inuktitut. I gotta say some of the acting is quite bad, but if you see the way they laugh, I can tell you, that is not acting. Just pure joy.

Love is Still a Mystery

Hey, girl, you're a sailor
You got a guy in every harbor
But I was yours for a summer
But for that I was deeply honored
